Construction is slated near Buckman from mid
2008 through 2011. No official word yet on how it
will affect access to the trailheads at the end of
Buckman Road. For more info, check the BDD
Project website.
June 1, 2008: Drunks in jeeps and children on dirt
quads plagued Buckman Road and Trail 306 to
Soda Springs. Litter along the Rio Grande was
worse than usual, and someone (Russell Crowe?)
trashed the photocopier in Caja del Rio Canyon.

Trigo Canyon suffered extensive fire
damage. Also, local ranchers gated
FR 33 about 7 miles from the trailhead.
Sometimes it's open, sometimes it's locked.
Unrestricted access to the west side of the
Manzanos is currently limited to Encino
and Monte Largo. For more info, contact
the Cibola Nat'l Forest office in ABQ.
